Word 4U Today

God makes a bigger deal about women more than anyone ever has, ever.

You’ll find that your Bible is full of cases where God chooses what ‘the world’ might have called a risk.

But He knew exactly whom He could trust. Queen Esther. Abigail. Rahab. If you haven’t heard of them (and there’s loads more like them), you should have. They put their necks well and truly on the line so that God’s people could survive, and it’ll take more than a W4U reading to cover them.

Try Mary, Jesus’ mother. She was a real-life, down-to-earth, young girl, just like any of us; the last thing she expected was to be pregnant, with all its pressures, without notice (and without the normal biology involved). Yet she was very faithful. Check out the folks mentioned in today’s verse. They don’t hog the limelight in scripture.

However, Lois and Eunice raised Timothy and taught him how to live well for God. Search your Bible, and you’ll find women that are great mother-figures, quick thinkers, life-savers. Faithful women that chose to stick with Jesus right till death and THEN accompany Him to the tomb (more than can be said for some of His chosen disciples).

And we don’t just find them in the Bible. God is powerfully working through faithful women who are always there for us are in our lives today. Yes, these women rock!

What now?
Decide on a ‘random’ act of kindness to show your appreciation to a lady you look up to. Turn it into a habit.

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.”
