Word 4U Today

‘…God…calls things that are not as though they were.’ Romans 4:17 NIV (1984)

Umm, stop a second. Just think about that verse. God “calls into being things that were not”. God speaks, and things that didn’t exist suddenly… do. That’s huge in two ways.

First, it’s only God that has that power. The Bible definitely doesn’t say that we call into being things that were not. It doesn’t say that your parents or friends call into being things that were not.

At the end of the day, no matter what effect we feel people’s words have on us, they don’t actually change anything. Just because that person you thought was your friend called you an idiot, it doesn’t make it true.

If your parents tell you that you’re going to be a doctor, it doesn’t automatically mean that it’s going to happen. On the flipside, it means that whatever God says is absolutely, 100%, true. Whatever He speaks comes into being. If He says that you’re going to be a doctor, you already are. If you work with Him, it’s going to happen because He’s said it. And by Him saying it, it becomes a thing. A real-life, living, breathing, guaranteed thing.

What now?
You’ve heard us point out God’s promises and declarations for you before? (If not, Romans 8:1 & 31 should get you started) The Bible’s full of them. Get some weighing scales today (the old fashioned ones are best for this).

Write down that thing you were called that sticks in the back of your mind on a piece of paper and weigh it against the Bible. Which one carries more weight?
