Word 4U Today

THE WORD, FOR YOU, TODAY (2) – IT’S OH SO QUIET (SHH… SHH)

THE WORD, FOR YOU, TODAY (2) – IT’S OH SO QUIET (SHH… SHH)

Job could not find God. He just couldn’t. And it’s not like he didn’t try.

The thing is, sometimes it’s a part of God’s plan for Him to be silent for a while.

Sometimes He steps back.

He’d never do it without good reason (and it’s frustrating when we don’t know the reason), but sometimes it’s necessary.

The question that lives in that type of silence, is ‘how do you fill it?’. If you can’t feel or find God, how do you soak your life right through with Him?

Well, either with a good deal of luck, or, you know, by some sort of Design, His words are always around. You guessed it. Our good old paper-pal (well, some use apps now), The Bible.

Even if you don’t feel bird-sized-butterflies in your stomach while you’re reading it, the Bible’s still speaking directly into the life you’re living.

That’s what it’s there for. Job hadn’t felt the presence of God for ages, but he could still confidently say “I have kept to His way without turning aside.

I have not departed from the commands of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.” (Job 23:11-12 NIV).

He still read and loved the written-down words of God that were available to him, even when God wasn’t speaking to him in any other way. And that’s what kept him going. That’s what kept his life right when he couldn’t hear God in any other way.

WHAT NOW?

Make a new note on your phone, called ‘My Savings Account’. Type out (not copy and paste, the act of typing is a good memory builder :)) three of your favorite Bible verses, to check back on when you feel God’s silence.
