Word 4U Today

As Jesus went from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!’ And Jesus turned to them and with great compassion, said, ‘Come back tomorrow. My shift finished at 6.’ But again the men cried, ‘Have mercy on us.’ And again Jesus was filled with sympathy, ‘Truly, truly, I say unto you, I think there is a 24/7 pharmacist on San Antonio St. See if they’re open. If that doesn’t work, make an appointment with my assistant.’ This time, the men pleaded with Jesus, ‘By our faith, make us whole.’ Jesus answered sternly, ‘Now really isn’t the time. You don’t even know how busy I am.’ And behold, the disciples escorted them off the property, and Jesus put his feet up’.

Not quite worthy of a gospel is it?

Jesus always made time for the hurting. Why? He worked out early on that He was here to serve, not to be served. There were probably times when it wasn’t convenient for a leper or a dead girl to drop by. But we never get that impression because Jesus always put the will of the Father first. ‘Having loved His own…He loved them unto the end’ (John 13:1).

Can you say the same? Do you quit on a whim? Or break your promise when you get a better offer? Always faithful. Now there’s a tagline.

What Now?

Ask God to highlight a specific opportunity for you to serve others this week, even if it comes at a cost to you personally.

Verse of the Day:

‘…I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me’ John 5:30 ESV
