Word 4U Today

In today’s verse, Habakkuk the prophet has been given the job of getting God’s message out to everyone in Israel. Big task. To do this he has to write down God’s message on tablets. (No, these were not the digital ones that hold all your apps and photos and videos—these were real old-school tablets, the ones they wrote on before paper came!)

The idea was that when God’s words were written down, Habakkuk would pass them on to the next guy quickly, and then they would pass them on to the next, and so on until the message was spread around the land. People would be able to share the message quickly because it was a clear message, an obvious message: anyone could get it.

God always does this when He has an important message to spread.

He makes it clear. He makes it simple.

Remember how He introduced Himself when Moses met Him at the burning bush? “I AM!” Think of the most popular verse in the Bible, too, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV). Some of the Bible is tricky to understand, but the important stuff isn’t.

So how are you introducing God to others? Is it in a way that they can simply and quickly understand?

What now?

For some people, even the idea that ‘God exists!’ needs to be the first thing they hear. For others, the fact that God is a loving God is going to be brand new to them. Try writing a one-sentence introduction about God that you think best describes Him. Then – tweet it? (Let us know @W4UPH  if you do, we’d love to see it!)

Verse of the Day
‘And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.’  Habakkuk 2:2 ESV
