‘If my people … will humble themselves and pray … I will hear’ 2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT

In 1984, US President Ronald Reagan spoke at a national prayer breakfast:

‘We poison our society when we remove its theological underpinnings. We court corruption when we leave it bereft of belief … Those who believe must be free to speak of and act on their belief, to apply moral teaching to public questions … without God, there is no virtue, because there’s no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we’re mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive … And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure’.

Praying, for our nation/leaders/communities matters big time (1 Tim 2:1-4) When Abraham prayed on behalf of the doomed city Sodom and Gomorrah, God agreed to let them off if only fifty righteous people could be found. Sadly, he couldn’t even find ten.

But there’s hope in this story—a righteous minority can be used by God (even used to allow Him to move in their city), bring revival to the Church, and change the course of our nation.

‘If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’

Let’s love the Philippines shall we?

Pray for our nation, and encourage those around you to do the same today.
