Word 4U Today

Paul + Timothy

Paul + Timothy

Paul took a young guy named Timothy under his wing. They had such a strong mentor/mentee relationship that Paul called him his “true son in the faith” (1 Timothy 1:2 GNB).

The pair ended up traveling around, helping to grow, and look after, churches. They even ended up in prison for their Godly work together, on more than one occasion. Paul helped Timothy become the person that God wanted him to be, and he could only do that because Timothy knew how to take advice seriously.

It’s so, so important to be able to learn from others.

No matter how much you know, you still have something to learn.

Chances are, there’s someone in your church that could teach you a heck of a lot – someone to go back to with questions and problems and ideas and prayer requests and, well, everything.

And we know, it can sometimes be a bit weird talking about your faith with someone outside of your group of friends. Especially when they seem to be one of those have-it-all-together people. But that’s exactly the sort of person that might just make a great mentor. It’s worth being brave. Go on. Ask for advice.

What Now?

Flip back to 17th June. Have you done the What Now for that day yet? Think about that wiser/older person that you have talked/are going to chat with. See if they’d have time to meet you for coffee on a regular basis…

Verse of the Day:

“Listen to advice…and…you will be wise…”  Proverbs 19:20 NIV
