Word 4U Today

Let’s play a guessing game. We’re thinking of a word. First clue – it’s a very well-known word. Second clue – it’s a name, and Acts 4:12 says it’s the only name that we can give us proper freedom.

What’s that? You know your Bible, and guessed it at Philippians 2:10. Well, okay. You got it. We’re thinking about JESUS!

We all say it a lot, don’t we? “JESUS”. Of course we do. We’re Christians. His name is in almost every worship song, right? But, let’s take a step back. What does Jesus, and His name, actually mean to us?

Timothy writes that “…there is… one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ” (1 Timothy 2:5 NKJV).

Jesus is the only One who is able to bridge the gap between us and God.

He chose to die the brutal death that WE deserve (since we are all sinners), which broke open the gates to allow us to live in His power.

When we say “in Jesus’ name”, we’re not just saying a nice little Christian phrase to show we’re done praying. We’re saying that we’re taking hold of the Name that carries the power of the most precious Man, and His most precious action (the one death that beat all deaths for good).

What Now?

Instead of focusing on other “mantras” or phrases, meditate upon the name of Jesus. Do it. Try to focus your mind and your heart on Jesus (the very real, living, breathing, death-beating person, Jesus). Spend a while quietly in prayer, thinking about the power of His name.

Verse of the Day:

‘You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power.’ Rev 4:11 NKJV
