Word 4U Today

Running a marathon is just too easy these days – right? Yeah, we thought so, too. Alongside the more traditional road races, a new breed of adrenaline-pumping running challenges are springing up all over the world. There’s even one called the ‘Spartan Race’. As well as a steep and arduous course, the Spartan adds in an extra challenge: obstacles.

And not just any obstacles. On the Spartan, you’ll find yourself swimming through mud, scaling craggy walls, crawling under barbed wire, heaving tractor tires and hurling javelins. Nice. (Not.)

So what’s the point of that, then? Is there a sign-up sheet on the back page…? Not quite. But, to draw a link between this crazy idea of making a ‘race’ even tougher with obstacles, we probably do the same without realizing.

Yup. We can put up, invite in, and stubbornly leave obstacles in our way that stop us from reallyrunning ‘with endurance the race that is set before us’ (Hebrews 12:1)

Perhaps during this edition of Word 4U 2Day, you’ve already been reminded of an obstacle that stops you from getting close to God. That’s probably prompting you to do something about it. Like what? Well, take a look at the ‘What Now?

What Now?

Holding on to an obstacle will only lead to more hurt and less freedom. We’re not asking you to be perfect, but to turn your imperfections to God. So, be real with Him. Take a short walk outside to share your thoughts with Him. Then, do the same walk but the other way round, thanking God for His ability to undo any tricky situation you find yourself in.

Verse of the Day:

‘…Remove the obstacles out of the way’ Isaiah 57:14 NIV
