‘…Run to win!’ 1 Corinthians 9:24 NLT

What motivates you?

When you know you’re motivated, you’ll be willing to step out of your comfort zone, put overtime in, and generally do the best you possibly can. Maybe it’s for that that relationship turn round/ exam you have to pass/ sibling to know God’s love/ friend to find self-worth/ youth group to grow/thesis to finish.

Now, if you think you know where this is going, and it’s another so-go-do-the-same-thing-for-God job, read on, we urge you. We know that it’s not possible to always be motivated to the extreme to do all of the above in your Christian walk; it can be a long-haul that can require some perseverance.

But when we find ourselves lacking motivation to step out for the gospel, we have to do something super-important: a self-review.

Is there something hindering me from actually being free to move forward?

You know the ‘…the sin that so easily entangles’ verse? (Hebrews 12:1 NIV) Put it into practice.

Take a look at the ‘what now?’ below, and consider what stops you in body, mind or spirit from being pumped-up.

Letting go of these things gives us God-given freedom. That’s motivation, right?

What now?

Make a shortlist of things you know deep down you aren’t great at. (We all have them; sharing your faith might be a starting point for a lot of us). What do you hang onto that needs to go? (Maybe pride stops you?) God will bless you if you let Him; it’s time to open up and pray for God to move in you.
