‘…“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”’ Matthew 17:5 NKJV

This fear-of-God-talk. Oof. I mean, it’s a pretty heavy topic, isn’t it?

But think about it.

Jesus, who lived on earth, is actually the same God who left the Pharaoh for dead at the bottom of the Red Sea. The same God who has all power over the universe. The same God who keeps us breathing.

So, should we be scared of Jesus?

Maybe not. But to know that He is far and above us is a good starting point. In Proverbs 1:7, we learn that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”.

The disciples got this.

One time, Jesus and some of them rocked up a mountain so high it went through the clouds. Then, out of the blue (ho ho), Moses and Elijah, even though they were long gone, appeared with Him.

Moses, the guy who gave the Ten Commandments- represents the law.Elijah was a great prophet- he represents.. uhm.. all the other prophets. These guys were great legends. They served God faithfully (take a look at Elijah’s life story! Crazy times! You’ll find it in 1 Kings and 2 Kings.) But, they can’t touch Jesus.’

Peter, who stood nearby, hit the floor.

God proclaimed- “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” No one is equal to Jesus.

It’s a good idea to grasp how high-up the scale Jesus is. He’s God. He is bigger than life itself, but He’s also interested in your life, and your self.

What now?

Humbleness exercise – Look up at the stars if the sky’s clear tonight. Now count them. Nah…just kidding, you can’t. And God flung them out…  feeling small yet?
