‘Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?’ Matthew 6:27 NLT

What worries you right now?

If you’re a student, tuition fees and shrinking job prospects might be getting you down. If you’re post-school / post-exams–that-I-didn’t-pass / post-job-I-just-left, you might have just as much reason to dread your prospects.

But God has worked in much worse circumstances than today. Recession, you say? Try a forty year recession in a desert – didn’t God provide from the sky? Yes, He did.

Try a starvation recession – didn’t God sustain using a widow’s last bit of oil and flour? Yes, He did.

Didn’t God feed over five thousand people using just a boy’s packed lunch? Yeah. He did.

There’s no recession in Heaven. Your prospects may look crushing, the job market slim, but now is the time to recall that famous David quote:

‘The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need’ (Psalm 23:1 NLT).

This instance of your life is barely an inch in God’s unraveling plan for you. Watch it as it rolls out – see if He doesn’t look after you.

What now?

If you’re at a stage in life where your future keeps you up at night worrying, the last ten verses of Matthew 6 are Jesus’ specific message for you right now. And the rest of that sermon shows the bigger picture of your life, in God’s hands.
