Word 4U Today

Corrie Ten Boom was a young Christian when her home country, the Netherlands, was invaded in World War II.

She quickly got fearful that she wouldn’t know what to do if the Nazis confronted her.

So her dad told her, “When you are going to take a journey on the train, do I give you your ticket three weeks early or just as you get on the train?” Corrie said, “As I get on the train.”

“So God will give you the special strength you need to be strong in the face of death just when you need it, not before.”

Are you worried you don’t have the strength to live for God? Feel like you lack the ‘oomph’ to be a powerful Christian?

Whether you discover it like Corrie, facing danger and persecution, or right when you step out to tell someone the Gospel, or in the moment when you get hit by hurtful insults, God’s strength comes right when you need it.

We’re even promised: ‘…don’t worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given the things to say. It will not really be you speaking but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.’ (Matthew 10:19-20 NCV).

Whether you feel it or not, your God has got your back:

When you step out for God (and maybe not even a second beforehand)

you’ll discover you have all that you need.

What now?

Joe Bayly said, “Don’t forget in the dark what you learned in the light.” Learn to preach to yourself. Take in all the truth you can about God’s Spirit being with you, so that you can pep talk yourself up when you feel danger coming.

Verse of the Day:

“If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.” 1 Peter 4:14
