APRICITY

APRICITY

The history of humanity’s relationship with God revolves around hope.

Before Jesus came to earth, God’s people lived in hope of His arrival, as promised. When He went back to heaven, His followers waited in hope of the arrival of the Holy Spirit, as promised. Now, we live in the hope of Jesus coming back, as promised.

And, because we have God, hoping is not a matter of crossing our fingers and taking our chances.

True hope is confidence.

God has always had a big plan for humanity, He’s known what to do right from the beginning (Revelation 13:8 shows that Jesus was ready to save us for forever). That’s right. God’s got it all sorted out. Even when things look like they’re going horribly, horribly wrong, there is hope. There is a plan.

That doesn’t mean that it’s not okay to feel a bit haggard and confused sometimes. But it does mean that we can’t ever lose sight of our hope in God. That’s what anchors our soul, and simultaneously allows it to have the freedom to rest in the God that it longs for. There’s a forgotten-about word that we here at W4U HQ think should be brought back into fashion. It’s “apricity”. Google it. That’s what our Godly hope does in the hard times of our lives.

What Now?

There’s an old poem that says “Hope is the thing with feathers / that perches in the soul”. Try and find a feather today (no catching of birds though, they’ve got sharp beaks, and feelings). If you find a *clean* one, keep hold of it as a reminder of hope.

Verse of the Day:

‘Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope…’  Hebrews 10:23 NLT
