Word 4U Today

‘…The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom…’ Matthew 27:51 NIV

Brief history lesson: Long ago, there was a time when the high priest would go through the temple curtain to enter the ‘Holy of Holies’ (where God’s presence was) once a year. And the only thing that qualified him to be there was the blood of a sacrificed lamb – nobody can physically come before God by themselves.

The blood was placed above the Ark of the Covenant.

What’s that? Well, it contained God’s perfect standards: the Ten Commandments (and yes, we’ve all broken them).

Now, let’s fast-forward to the moment when Jesus died on the cross. The blood of the ‘lamb’ was shed again for us. The Bible states that the temple curtain, the one that separated man from God, was torn in two (Matt. 27:51).

And this is nothing less than flipping wonderful news for us!

When we reach out for God, when we seek God with honest hearts, He will reach back for us.

No more curtains!

It means that factually, without a doubt, no matter how you’re feeling today, you can “come boldly to the throne of our gracious God” (Hebrews 4:16 NLT). Even if you feel undeserving (and we all pretty much are), it doesn’t affect how much God longs for you to reach for Him.

God doesn’t reside behind a curtain, He’s in us. HINT: “your body is a temple.’ (1 Cor. 6:19)

What now?
Read James 4:2. Come boldly to the throne and ask God for what’s in your heart.
