A Spiritual Checkup (2)

A Spiritual Checkup (2)

How do you measure up when it comes to:

1) Obedience. ‘Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.’ (Hebrews 13:17 NIV).

Do you consistently obey the things you know God wants you to do?

Do you submit to the guidance of those God has placed over you?

Do you pray for them and thank God that they are investing in your life?

2) A pure heart. ‘If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ (1 John 1:8-9 NKJV).

Do you confess your sins specifically and by name? Do you plan to stop doing that which is considered sin? Are there any sinful areas you keep secret? Are you willing to give up all sin for God?

3) A clear conscience. ‘So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.’ (Acts 24:16 NIV). When you offend someone, do you ask for their forgiveness? Is your conscience clear with God and man?

4) Confidence before God. ‘If our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight’ (1 John 3:21-22 NKJV). Have you gone from simply seeing ‘right or wrong’, and asked yourself, ‘How will this affect my confidence before God?’
