Word 4U Today

Have the last three days got you worried?

Does the challenge to ‘live like Jesus’ sound too much? Stop, and maybe even write this down somewhere. The call to ‘Live Like Jesus’ is not Christianity. The call of Christianity is “Come Home, All Is Forgiven.”

The call to live like Jesus is for after that, after you’ve come home, after you’ve been picked up and held by the adoring Father of the universe.

So if you’re worried that you’re not thinking, or acting, like Jesus, don’t panic your way out of His arms. From inside those arms you can watch His heart and thoughts up close. Only once you’re home can you see how the Son that you’re copying deals with problems.

Sure, we really want you to live like Jesus. (Yes, we really want *us* to live like Jesus too…) Imagine what the world would be like if we all did. But if any of us allow ourselves to slip into thinking “if I don’t live like Jesus… am I really a Christian?…”, we’ve allowed ourselves to swallow the secret lie that it depended on us being a holy enough or good enough Jesus-copy. That’s not what the cross was for.

Living like Jesus is something that God grows (and usually not overnight) in the lives of those who have been called Home while they were still dirty, tired, and broken.

The only thing, only thing, that every single one of us needs to do like Jesus did, is receive the love of His Father. The rest comes from there.

Bask. Today, don’t *do* anything, just take 10 or 20 minutes to spend time in God’s presence allowing Him to love you.

‘…Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it…’ Matthew 11:29 TM
