Word 4U Today

‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?…’          Psalms 27:1 NKJV

How long have you been following God for?

A week?

Ten years?

Now, think about this: have you developed?

It might be a good idea to take a minute to write down two or three things that God has changed in you. In fact, it is a good idea. Jot them down now.

Now then, we’d like to put a theory forward: the longer you serve God, the bigger He gets.

Well, He doesn’t get bigger-bigger, but your understanding of Him-in-your-life definitely should.

So, for instance, when you first became a Christian, you might have struggled with that swearing habit. If you’ve improved that – nice. But what about two years in? Are you still struggling with the same old stuff? Turning a blind-eye to God’s prompting about your wandering eyes/swearing/bad-but-surely-not-that-bad stuff?

Hold up.

Remember the God we spoke about the last couple of days? That all-powerful, tremendous God. He cares enough to change you, and there just so happens to be a reason behind it.

It’s not about trying to be perfect.

Allowing God to take the reins (His role) and putting effort in (your role) to give up those habits will lead you to better things.

Like how the grit of learning music theory means you’ll one day have the joy of life-enhancing creativity; hard work on your character now will pay off later.

We aren’t kidding, either!

When you begin to really give it over to God, you’ll appreciate this ‘life-to-the-full’ business even more.

What now?

What did God bring you through for better?
